From 2 December, “stop on request” will be introduced on 15 more bus routes of Rīgas satiksme
From 2 December, in addition to the existing 20 Rīgas satiksme bus routes, “stop on request” will be introduced on 15 more bus routes. There will also be changes to the schedules of these bus routes, with shorter journey times between stops on request.
In total, this will now be the order at more than 400 stops. “Stop on request” will be introduced on bus routes 2, 3, 13, 15, 18, 22, 24, 30, 31, 36, 38, 39, 51, 56 and 58. However, since 19 October, this has already been the case on bus routes 4; 7; 10; 11; 12; 16; 23; 25; 26; 28; 29; 32; 34; 43; 47; 50; 54; 55, 57 and 60. The bus driver only stops at such a stop if the passenger shows their wish to get off the bus in time by pressing the door opening button or, when at the bus stop, if the passenger is visible to the driver and stands by the stop sign.
The new bus stops will also have a special sign placed at the “stop on request” – a raised hand icon on a green background. The signs are located on the bus stop post, above the schedules. At other stops where there is no such sign, the trip order remains the same as usual. The sign is also integrated into transport schedules, on public transport screens next to route information, on the website next to schedules and elsewhere. Information about the “stop on request” is also available in an audio announcement inside the public transport.
